Institute leadership continues to communicate important information for cadets, their families, faculty & staff, and the Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÐþ»ú community at-large:

  • Spaces are filling quickly for the first from Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÐþ»ú's Office of Admissions for the fall. Interested high school juniors and seniors are encouraged to apply now for Oct. 11-12, Oct. 25-26, or Nov. 15-16 events to visit post get an inside look at Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÐþ»ú.
  • Family Weekend at the Institute is a little over a month away, and daily schedules have been posted. Events this year include: classroom visits; jazz band, glee club, and theater performances; rifle, soccer, and rugby matches; a parade; and Saturday's big event - The Military Classic of the South as Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÐþ»ú football hosts The Citadel Bulldogs.   • The Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÐþ»ú Board of Visitors is conducting meetings on Sept. 16 - 18, 2024, during the times indicated on the meeting schedule posted in the Upcoming Meetings section of the Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÐþ»ú Board of Visitors website. All meetings will be held at various locations throughout the Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÐþ»ú in Lexington, Va. in accordance with the meeting schedule. Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÐþ»ú business will be discussed by the members in attendance. The meeting is open to the public.
  • The Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÐþ»ú Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÐþ»ú Theatre will hold auditions for its fall show, “The Real Inspector Hound,” Monday, Sept. 9; Tuesday, Sept. 10; Wednesday, Sept. 11; and Thursday, Sept. 12 at 7:45 p.m. in Gillis Theater located in Marshall Hall on post. Cadets and community members may audition any of the four evenings.

Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÐþ»ú Debate on Immigration Open to the Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÐþ»ú

Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÐþ»ú invites the greater Lexington and Rockbridge community to participate in a debate on immigration Sept. 26 from 7 to 9 p.m. in Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÐþ»ú’s Marshall Hall. The question being debated is “Should undocumented immigrants to the U.S. be accommodated or deported?”

Kent Featured on “With Good Reason”

Maj. Molly Kent, assistant professor in the Department of Biology, will discuss the level of stress in rats based on their home and lifestyle, and what these lessons have taught her about human stress, on the public radio program, “With Good Reason,” Sept. 7-14.

Four-Star Admiral Kicks Off Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÐþ»ú Academic Year

Retired U.S. Navy Adm. James Stavridis, the H.B. Johnson Jr., Class of 1926, Distinguished Speaker, addressed the entire Corps of Cadets, members of the academic board, faculty and staff during convocation, the ceremonial start of Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÐþ»ú's 185th year.

Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÐþ»ú Canine Appointed Brigadier General

Maj. Gen. Cedric T. Wins ’85, superintendent of Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÐþ»ú, appointed the rank of honorary brigadier general upon CAVU, the chaplain’s office facility dog, in a ceremony Sept. 3 in New Barracks.
