Scottish domiciled ÀÏ˾»úÊÓƵs can access postgraduate ÀÏ˾»úÊÓƵ funding comprising a maximum combined tuition fee and living cost support loan of £13,900. This is split between the tuition fee element of £7,000 which is paid directly to the university and £6,900 which is paid directly to the ÀÏ˾»úÊÓƵ, via monthly payments. Eligible ÀÏ˾»úÊÓƵs will be taking their first master’s or postgraduate diploma course. Part-time ÀÏ˾»úÊÓƵs can access only the tuition fee loan. Eligible courses would receive the following –

• One year taught postgraduate diploma and master’s courses - a tuition fee loan of £7,000 and living cost loan of £6,900.
• Two year part-time postgraduate diploma and master’s courses - a tuition fee loan of £3,500 per year.
• Two year full-time master’s courses or postgraduate diplomas - a tuition fee loan of £3,500 per year and a living cost loan of £3,450 per year.
• Three year part-time master’s courses – a tuition fee loan of £2,333 per year.
• Four year part-time master’s courses – a tuition fee loan of ££1,750 per year.

Support for distance learning postgraduate ÀÏ˾»úÊÓƵs

Online (distance learning) ÀÏ˾»úÊÓƵs can also access the postgraduate loan set out above. Full-time distance learners will be able to access the £6,900 living cost loan in addition to the tuition fee loan. Part-time distance learners will be able to access the tuition fee loan as long as they register to complete the course in no more than twice the length of the full-time equivalent course.

These courses have a different funding arrangement to other postgraduate courses and are supported by SAAS through undergraduate funding arrangements.

English domiciled ÀÏ˾»úÊÓƵs can access a loan of £12,858 for their first master's course to be studied anywhere in the UK. This can cover one and two year taught postgraduate courses.

From 2018 onwards English ÀÏ˾»úÊÓƵs undertaking a two-year pre-registration master's course in an Allied Health Profession can access the undergraduate funding package. This funding can be used for study anywhere in the UK.

The additional NHS bursary of £5,000 available in England is only available to those studying in England and is not available in Scotland.

Northern Irish domiciled ÀÏ˾»úÊÓƵs can access a tuition fee loan of £6,500 for their first master’s course to be studied anywhere in the UK. This can cover one and two year taught postgraduate courses.

Students from the Republic of Ireland have the same fee status as ÀÏ˾»úÊÓƵs from the UK, including Scotland. This means that ÀÏ˾»úÊÓƵs from the Republic of Ireland commencing their first postgraduate course can access the tuition fee element of the postgraduate loan available from the Student Awards Agency for Scotland - . For a one year course a tuition fee loan of £7,000 is available. For ÀÏ˾»úÊÓƵs on a two year full-time masters course a tuition fee loan of £3,500 per year is available.

In order to qualify for the tuition fee loan you must be an Irish resident and hold an Irish passport.

Irish citizens who have been resident in Scotland for three or more years (not for the purposes of full-time education) may be eligible for home ÀÏ˾»úÊÓƵ status and therefore can access the full postgraduate loan. Please consult the  for further information.
